Our Chapter

About Laney NHS

Our history, what we look for in members, the students who lead the chapter, and the advisers who support them.

The National Honor Society is more than an honor roll. Our chapter sets standards for membership grounded in a student's outstanding performance in four areas: scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These four criteria form the foundation on which our chapter and its activities are built.

The Buccaneer Chapter recognizes seniors at Laney High School who have distinguished themselves academically and demonstrated a genuine commitment to serving their school and community.

Reflected in a student's voluntary contributions to school and community: given freely, without compensation, and with a positive, courteous, and enthusiastic spirit.

3
Leadership

Student leaders are resourceful and dependable. They solve problems well, promote school activities, contribute ideas, and model a positive attitude through their words and actions.

4
Character

A student of good character upholds principles of morality and ethics, cooperates with others, demonstrates honesty and reliability, and shows courtesy, concern, and respect for all.
